To help you prepare for your bicycle shopping, reparation, or just a simple work, we have collected a handy of printable bicycle diagrams which display the important parts of a bicycle. Bicycles can be categorized in many different ways: by function, by the number of riders, by general construction, by gearing or by means of propulsion. The common types include utility bicycles, mountain bicycles, racing bicycles, touring bicycles, hybrid bicycles, cruiser bicycles, and BMX bikes. The first diagram below is the BMX diagram.
As you can see in the bicycle diagrams below, there are so many detailed parts of a bike. The important ones are shown with the labels on the diagram. The saddles are important for the riding position. With comfort bikes and hybrids, cyclists sit high over the seat, their weight directed down onto the saddle, such that a wider and more cushioned saddle is preferable. The axle is a rod that serves to attach a wheel to a bicycle and provides support for bearings on which the wheel rotates. The bar ends are the extensions at the end of straight handlebars to allow for multiple hand positions.
The bearing system that the pedals (and cranks) rotate around is called a bottom bracket. It fits inside the bottom bracket shell, which is part of the bicycle frame. The brake is the device which is used to stop or slow down a bicycle.
The diagram and the detail photos show what the parts of a bicycle are called. Knowing the bike component names will help you when you need to explain something to a mechanic working on your bike, when you’re shopping, or when you are talking about a bicycle with your fellow cyclist. So just download and print these diagrams!
