The components of the heart are all labeled in the labeled heart diagram above such as the aorta, pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein, left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle, right ventricle, inferior vena cava, and superior vena cava. The heart diagram below summarizes the flow of blood through the heart, including all arteries, veins, and valves that are passed along the way.

In the heart, there are four chambers which consist of the right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle and left ventricle. The two upper chambers are called the left and the right atria, and the two lower chambers are known as the left and the right ventricles. For better illustration, look at the diagram below.
